Stephen Mudge (b 04/07/59) was educated at Blundell's school, Tiverton, Devon. He gained entrance to the prestigious Royal College of Music, London, where he studied voice, piano and musicology, obtaining a G.R.S.M (hons) and his L.G.S.M, an external degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He then pursued a career as a performing musician for the next fifteen years in the major operatic repertoire throughout Europe and the Far East, including the principal tenor roles in all the Mozart operas at St John's, Smith Square London and the Mozart requiem at the Salle Pleyel, Paris. In 1995 he moved to Paris and began writing professionally for Time Out and became the French correspondent for the leading American opera magazine Opera News. Stephen has contributed chapters for numerous guide books including Insight and Virgin and regularly publishes articles for the BBC. He has also published a book - Paris Rooms for Rockport publishers.
